Two More Offshore Championships for 2003 Special Championship Regatta Opportunities for LMSRF Members in 2008!
LMSRF Lake Michigan Match Racing Championship
The 2008 Lake Michigan Match Racing Championship will be hosted by Sail Sheboygan at the Sheboygan Yacht Club May 16-18 at the Sheboygan YC in Sonars (provided). Under an unusual, attractive arrangement, this event is being run concurrently with the 2008 Area K quarterfinal qualifier for US Sailing’s National Match Race Championship. Lake Michigan sailors may compete in both qualifiers in the same regatta for a single entry fee! Eight slots will be available overall, entry is by invitation, and the request for invitation is provided in the Notice of Race. The top two Lake Michigan teams in this event will be invited to sail for LMSRF at the Richardson Trophy Regatta in the fall (see following event). The event NoR was posted in early 2008 and the normal response deadline was April 11th. Watch LMSRF’s home page bulletins and/or the Sheboygan Yacht Club’s website for updates. YRUGL’s Richardson Trophy Regatta -- Great Lakes Match Racing Championship *
LSYA (Lake Superior) is hosting the 2008 Richardson Trophy Regatta at the Wayzata YC on Lake Minnetonka in October 2008. This year’s championship will be sailed in J-22’s furnished by the event. The Lake Michigan qualifier for the Richardson will be sailed at the Sheboygan Yacht Club May 16-18. For further information contact Gary Hendrickson. US Sailing’s Rolex U.S. Match Racing Championship *
This prestigious national championship will be hosted by the Seawanhaka Corinthian YC at Oyster Bay, NY in Sonars September 24-28, 2008. The Area K qualifier event will be sailed in Sonars May 16-18 at the Sheboygan Yacht Club. That NoR was posted in Dec. 2007 and entry window may be expired by this time. US Sailing’s Rolex National Offshore Championship for the Lloyd Phoenix Trophy *
For 2008, the US Offshore Championship will be sailed in T-10”s Sept. 26-28 at Columbia Yacht Club in Chicago! Area K will send one team to this prestigious national championship regatta. The US Sailing Area K Director will make the selection based on sailing resumes. For details or if your team has an interest in competing, contact Gary Hendrickson. * LMSRF will reimburse the entry fee for contestants representing Lake Michigan for these championship events, and for certain other events sponsored by US Sailing. In addition, contestants may apply in advance for LMSRF Grant-In-Aid to help defray certain travel & housing expenses involved with competing in the event!
